Glyphosate has a long history of safe use. For more than 40 years, glyphosate has been one of the most widely used pesticides in the agricultural community around the world because of its vigorously tested safety profile and efficacy in the control of weeds relative to alternatives. It is approved for use in more than 160 countries.
Since its introduction in 1971, glyphosate has been extensively tested and reassessed by regulatory authorities for human safety. The U.S. EPA [and/or other regulatory authorities] has consistently concluded that it is unlikely that current dietary, drinking water and home uses of glyphosate pose a risk to human health.
The agency reiterated this conclusion as recently as April 2019 after thorough review of the most up-to-date safety studies. [1]
